Delighted to say ‘Some Things Are Not Nothing’ has found a permanent home as part of Extinction Rebellion’s Writer’s Rebel series, after expiring off BBC Sounds in October. Honoured to be in such company.

The Royal Society of Literature’s ‘Only Connect’ newsletter series features me today, combining comments about a 2010 climate action talk with Margaret Atwood with a link to my short story, 'Some Things Are Not Nothing,’ via a BBC Sounds link.

Depressing how little climate discourse has moved on since 2010, but exciting about being featured in this great newsletter (no. #208 in the series).

Delighted to say that my short story ‘Some Things Are Not Nothing’ was broadcast on BBC Radio Bristol last night, and is available on BBC Sounds for the next 30 days or so (I’m 80ish mins in):

I’m proud of this one – it’s about climate change, care work and finally growing up

As the text reads, The Studio was a journal “of fine and applied art” based out of England. It featured some of the more influential artists of the day, including Aubrey Beardsley and Charles Mackintosh. West’s delicate poster for the publication is a lovely example of American Art Nouveau, all curling lines and wintry hues embracing a lovely lady in Victorian attire who is reading one of the journals.

It’s a heartfelt one from me this time, I’m afraid…

My creative non-fiction piece, ‘Foxgloves,’ is now online at The Mechanics’ Institute Review, which is the lit mag for Birkbeck, University of London.

Witches, breastfeeding, and poisonous flowers all feature, along with frequent mentions of paisley…
